It’s easy to develop new or unfavorable habits, so we wanted to check in with your daily tooth brushing techniques with these step-by-step directions.

Step 1: Position Your Toothbrush Hold the toothbrush at a 45-degree angle to your gums. The bristles should make contact with both your teeth and gumline. Illustration: Show a toothbrush angled toward the gumline of upper teeth.
Step 2: Gentle Circular Motions Gently move the toothbrush in small circular motions. Brush for 30 seconds per section: outer, inner, & chewing surfaces.
Step 3: Brush All Surfaces For the outer and inner surfaces, use circular strokes. For chewing surfaces, use short back-and-forth strokes.
Step 4: Clean the Inner Front Teeth Hold the toothbrush vertically. Use up-and-down strokes on the inner front teeth.
Step 5: Brush Your Tongue Lightly brush your tongue to remove bacteria and freshen your breath.
