About Us
Here, we don’t treat patients like numbers, but family! You’ll always be greeted with a smile, and our warm and friendly team will help you feel right at home at every single appointment. From scheduling to helping you settle into the chair to discussing your payment options, our goal is to make taking care of your teeth as easy as possible, and we’ll provide a level of service and attention you just won’t find anywhere else near you.
Big Gay Smiles Dental is an LGBTQ2IA+ owned practice that prioritizes comfort, quality, and community. We understand the stressors related to going to the dentist and actively work to redefine what it means to provide queer- (and ally-) focused dental care. Big Gay Smiles Dental invests in the patient experience by maintaining the latest in dental technology, which can reduce the number of dental visits needed for crowns or veneers. From laser dentistry to our in-office CEREC machine, Big Gay Smiles Dental is redefining the dental experience.
In addition to investing in the patient experience and our modern facilities, Big Gay Smiles Dental invests in our community. Every year, we donate 10% of yearly revenue to local and national HIV/AIDS non-profits that provide life-saving medicine and ancillary services to our most vulnerable LGBTQ2IA+ brothers and sisters. Big Gay Smiles Dental is committed to investing in our patients and community. Come by and see why so many Big Gay Smiles Dental patients smile with PRIDE™!

Our Commitment to LGBTQ+ Health Equity (H2)
At Big Gay Smiles, our dedication to the LGBTQ+ community is deeply rooted in personal experience and a commitment to inclusivity. Dr. Rob McKernan, our founder, knows firsthand the challenges of navigating the dental industry as an LGBTQ+ individual. His experience with discrimination in a Utah dental office during his undergraduate years was a pivotal moment that fueled his passion for creating a welcoming and affirming space for all.
Dr. Rob is proud to be a part of the Outcare Health Community, the most comprehensive resource for LGBTQ+ health equity. This affiliation reflects our ongoing commitment to providing high-quality, affirming care that meets the unique needs of our diverse community. In our practice, we focus on comfort, quality, and community, striving to redefine what it means to offer queer-focused dental care.
A cornerstone of our practice is our “10% Promise,” where we donate 10% of our annual revenue to local and national HIV/AIDS non-profits. This initiative underscores our belief in giving back and supporting the causes that matter most to our community.

Diamond (She/Her)
My name is Diamond, I’m a mom of three girls whom I love and adore to do life with. I enjoy exploring and experiencing different things which have brought me into the dental field. I never knew I would enjoy positive dental life changes. I love how that our health is connected to our mouth and enjoy learning more than just about teeth and seeing how I can help change someone's life . Dr. Rob has taught me a lot about laser dentistry and I love all the things laser dentistry has to offer. I've been with Dr. Rob for over 3 years ever since he opened up his own practice BGS(Big Gay Smiles) in which now I’m very excited that the LGBTQ community have a safe and comfortable dental environment to be in that’s judgement free! It makes me very happy to be able to work alongside him as he changes the face of dentistry by just being himself. I love when patients trust us even with having anxiety, seeing them walk out with a new smile and full of joy makes it all worth it.
